The Lacrosse and Basketball Arena at the Langley Events Centre was implemented on a design-build fast-track basis for the Township of Langley.
Situated immediately east of the Langley Events Centre (a 260,483 sq. ft. world-class facility completed by TCPM in 2009), the new building features a dedicated lacrosse arena, two university-level basketball gymnasiums, change rooms, storage facilities, and offices. The gymnasium seats 1200 for a major event.
Wales McLelland Construction was the design-builder. The building is constructed of insulated tilt-up concrete panels.
TCPM’s role as Project Manager commenced in April 2012 with site selection analysis, preparation of the Owner’s Statement of Requirements, and the issuance of a design-build RFP to qualified contractors.
Construction commenced in August 2012 with a very aggressive schedule implementing a phased plan to have the basketball gym ready for the March 2013 BC Provincial High School Championship season.
TCPM worked closely with the Township of Langley Building and Fire departments, Langley Events Centre and Wales McLelland to ensure the basketball gym was ready for the championship event in March. The tournament was a great success.
The remainder of the building was completed in June 2013. Total project duration from conception to completion – 15 months.
